REV Releases Results of Industry's Economic Impact

A recent survey conducted by Renewable Energy Vermont (REV) of Vermont businesses engaged in the production of renewable energy, manufacture of renewable energy technology, sales and installation of equipment, and related consulting services demonstrates that the renewable energy business makes a significant contribution to the state economy.
In September 2007, there were more than 50 renewable energy businesses in Vermont; they employed more than 545 Vermonters, with total compensation exceeding $36 million; and they reported over $188 million in sales for the year
Highlights of the analysis show that the renewable energy business is a vital and growing contributor to Vermont's economy. The survey found that after totaling direct, indirect, and induced effects, the industry is responsible for:
  • Total sales of almost $259 million
  • About 1,115 jobs in Vermont
  • Total compensation equaling $55 million
  • $17 million in tax revenues (not counting personal or business income taxes)

For more information you can read our fact sheet on the survey results.

Energy Prices In Vermont

REV will be posting the monthly energy price data and charts for Vermont. We will post the ISO New England's Avg. Market Clearing price for electricity in VT as well as the fossil fuel price data collected by the VT Department of Public Service.
In the future we hope to post monthly price trends for renewable energy sources as well.
